What if I told you that the moment you take 100% ownership of your life, your results, your relationships, your emotional state, your circumstances, is the moment you become truly free? Today I want to share the most empowering philosophy I've ever encountered.
100% ownership without exception. I'm Joey Klein and this principle has transformed not just my own life, but the lives of thousands of people that I've worked with. It's also the principle that most people resist the hardest because it requires giving up the stories and excuses that have kept them stuck.
Let me be clear about what 100% ownership means. It means that you are entirely responsible for your experience of life, not responsible for what happened to you. You can't control external events, But you are completely responsible for how you respond to what happens, the meaning you make of it and the results you create from it.
Most people live at maybe 30% ownership. They take responsibility for some things, but blame others, circumstances, their past or their genetics for everything else. They say things like, I can't help but feel how I feel.
They made me angry. I would be successful if I had their advantages. I'm just not wired that way. This partial ownership is a prison. When you believe that other people and circumstances or your past determine your experience, you give away all your power to change it.
You become a victim of forces outside of your control. 100% ownership is different. It says, regardless of what happened to me, regardless of what advantages or disadvantages I started with, regardless of what other people do or don't do, I am completely responsible for what I create from this moment forward.
This was a hard lesson for me to learn. I grew up in a chaotic household with patterns of conflict and dysfunction. For years I blamed my family, my circumstances, my genetics for my struggles. I had a story about why I was angry, why relationships were difficult, and why I couldn't trust people.
The breakthrough came when I realized that holding onto this story was protecting me. The breakthrough came when I realized that holding onto this story was not protecting me, it was imprisoning me. As long as I blamed my past for my present, I couldn't change my future.
The moment I took 100% ownership, everything shifted. Did my past experience happen? Yes. Did they influence me? Absolutely. But I stopped using them as excuses for why I couldn't create the life I wanted. Instead, I started asking, how can I use these experiences to become stronger, wiser, more Compassionate?
Empowering, right? 100% ownership doesn't mean self blame or ignoring real challenges. It means recognizing that even in difficult circumstances, you have choices about how to respond. Viktor Frankl survived Nazi concentration camps and wrote everything can be taken from a man, but one thing.
The last of human freedoms to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances. When you embrace 100% ownership, several things happen immediately. First, you stop wasting energy on resentment and blame that that energy becomes available for creating solutions.
Second, you develop what I call response ability. The ability to choose conscious responses instead of automatic reactions. Third, you start attracting different people and opportunities because you're no longer radiating victim energy.
Most importantly, you become free. Free from needing others to change for you to be happy. Free from waiting for perfect conditions to pursue your goals. Free from the stories that have limited your potential. This requires daily practice. Every time you catch yourself blaming, complaining, or making excuses, you can stop and ask, how am I responsible here?
What can I learn? How can I respond differently? Makes sense? I've seen this transform marriages on the brink of divorce, businesses that were failing, people who felt hopeless about their circumstances not because their external situations magically changed, but because they stopped being victims and started being creators.
