Here's the reality. You probably woke up today and had no idea where you were going, right? Essentially, the average person wakes up, and the way they go through their day is they have the list of things that they know they're going to do that day, but they don't really understand where those list of things are taking them.
And so if you do nothing more than give yourself permission to have the courage to name where it is you want to end up, who it is you want to become, where it is you want to go in your life, and you set a destination for something you'd like to achieve or something you'd like to aspire to, all of a sudden, you start performing and executing as a high performer.
Because many people think that this idea of high performers is that you have these sort of individuals who do unrealistic or uncharacteristic things. And the fact is, high performers actually are not often that competent. Believe it or not. They just do a few simple things that most other people don't do.
And the reality is, if you want to perform at your highest levels, all you have to do do is start doing a few basic, simple things that most other people just don't know to do and or are unwilling to do it. And you can outperform 99% of other individuals.
And it all starts with waking up and knowing where you're going. And so give yourself permission to go, hey, in a year, where would I like my life to be? Ask yourself this question and see what answers you start to come up with. And later on, I'll talk about what's going to get in your way of giving yourself permission to answer that question.
And so ask yourself the question, where do I want my life to be in a year? Who do I want to be in a year? What's the experience of life I want in a year? What are the circumstances or results that I want to have occur in a year? And my guess is, if you give yourself permission to answer that question honestly, it looks different than where you are today.
